Welcome to Mr. Thrasher’s classroom information page.
It is important for everyone to be respectful of everyone and everything at Viola High School. It is expected that everyone will pay attention in class. It is Mr. Thrasher’s experience that class is more enjoyable when everyone contributes. In order to ensure that the classroom is a good experience for everyone, rules and procedures for classroom behavior must be established from the very first day of class.
Viola High School Rules
All Viola High School rules will be enforced in Mr. Thrasher's classroom.
Computer Lab General Rules
1. No food or drinks will be allowed at the computer work stations.
2. Leave each computer work station exactly how you found it.
3. Clean your work station and the floor under/around your work station before you leave.
4. The computers are to be used for academic purposes only. The term “Academic Purposes” means that use of the computers must be directly related to assigned classroom school work, and not personal general curiosity. You are not to play any games or browse the Internet during class unless instructed to do so by Mr. Thrasher. You are also not to press buttons or go into and/or change the settings of the computer just to see what it does.
5. If you are not sure about something, ask your instructor. Do not assume that it is okay.
6. Make sure that your computer is logged off before you leave the classroom.

Absences and Make-Up Work Policy
It is to your advantage to be in class every day.
In the event that you must be absent, absences will be considered unexcused until an admission slip is obtained from the office. This should be obtained before school, between 7:30 and the start of the first class for the day. Students will not be admitted to class until an admission slip is obtained from the office.
Students are responsible for initiating and completing all class work to be made up when they are absent. When you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed as soon as you return to class. The deadline for make-up work shall be equal to and not exceeding the time missed. Tests, term papers, notebooks, projects, etc., which have been announced prior to the absence, are due the day the student returns to school.
Work may not be made up for credit for absences in excess of the number of allowable absences in a semester unless the absences are part of a signed agreement, IEP, or 504 Plan as allowed by school policy.

Tardiness
Students are expected to be in the classroom by the time the tardy bell rings. There is ample time allowed to get from any campus building to this classroom. However, there may not be enough time to go to your locker or visit with friends between classes and expect to get to class on time.
The classroom door will be shut when the tardy bell rings. Any student that is late to class should get a tardy slip from the office before they can be admitted to class. Every 3 tardies will equal an absence for the class. Discipline will start with the 4th absence, and will continue for each one after that.

Emergency Situations
Fire
You will follow the first student out of the front classroom door, out the back high school door, and around to the high school parking lot. The teacher will be the last one out of the classroom. The entire class will stay together as a group on the parking lot. The teacher will take attendance and wait for the all clear signal to be given. Do not wander from your class.
Storm
You will go out into the hallway by the classroom and sit on your knees while facing the wall. You will put your arms and hands over your head for protection from falling objects.

Hall Passes
Class time is valuable, so you should make every effort to be here every day on time for the entire class period. I do not want to hold up class for students who are out of the room. If you must leave the classroom for any reason, you must raise your hand and ask for permission.
Classroom Procedures
As You Enter the Classroom
- Due to the expensive nature of the computer equipment, no food or drink is allowed, so finish your snack or drink prior to entering the classroom.
- Enter the classroom quietly. There is a lot of expensive technology in this room, so there should be no pushing or playing around the equipment.
- If you are wearing a hat or cap, please be respectful and remove it while you are in class.
- Go directly to your assigned seat or work station, sign on to your computer (if necessary), get out your notebook and something to write with, and prepare to begin work as soon as the tardy bell rings.
- When the tardy bell rings, you should begin working on your assigned bell work until Mr. Thrasher has taken care of attendance and any other class business, and is ready to begin the day’s lesson.
During Class
- Never interrupt instruction. While the teacher is teaching, the student is not to get up out of their seat. It will be considered disrespectful to talk, make noises, sharpen your pencil, or do anything that may distract others from hearing and learning the material.
- If you have a question or a comment, please raise your hand and wait to be called upon before speaking.
- If you need to sharpen your pencil, please raise your hand and wait until you are called upon to ask for permission.
- There should only be one student up at a time going to the pencil sharpener, trash can, printer, talking to the teacher, etc. Please wait until the other student has returned to their seat before getting up out of yours. You will need to watch this closely, and take turns.
- If you must leave the class for any reason, the Hall Pass policy as outlined earlier will be enforced.
The End of Class
- The teacher dismisses class, not the bell. Each student is to remain seated until the entire class is dismissed. No one will be allowed to line up by the door waiting for the bell to ring.
- Log off of your computer, and leave each computer work station clean. You will need to make sure that you clean up your work station and the floor area of your work station before you leave, and push in your chair.
- Leave the classroom in an orderly and quiet manner.
